Auto-Suggestions: Reprogramming Your Thinking Mind

Auto-suggestions are one of the best ways by which you can actually change your inner self. It is a process that feeds information and changes inner talk in the way you want.

Begin with Recalling

By following the previous blogs on this site, we are assuming you have made your list of thoughts. You have cleared your mind. You know what you actually want to have. You know what you actually need to do and also what you do not need to do. You know what you actually want to eliminate from your life. You have made a set of goals. You know what habits you need to build to achieve your goal.

By observing your mind, you have noticed there are some thoughts repeatedly coming to you that you don’t want to have. On the other hand, maybe you want to have some wishful thoughts you do want to have.

You have found there are some false beliefs, expectations, and fears in your mind. You know they are not true, but they keep coming to you repeatedly and frequently, making you unnecessarily scared, worried, and anxious—creating emotions of urgency that are no longer required.

How are those thoughts coming to you?

If you observe one step deeper, you will discover how those thoughts are coming to you and how those emotions are created in you. Thoughts are coming from your experience, the information fed into you, their interpretation, and how they mix with your beliefs, desires, and fears

Reprogramming Your Mind Through Auto-Suggestions

If you follow the same process to implant the thoughts you want to have—so that the emotions you want to have are created—those desired emotions will compel you to do what you actually want to do. But this time, you will do your needed tasks happily, with your whole mind and body. That ensures your sustainability in doing the task and increases the probability of becoming successful to the highest level.

So, your belief, the information you have gathered and accepted as true, your experience, the reality you have faced, and your interpretation of that reality are responsible for creating the thoughts you have in most cases. They are hiding in your subconscious and unconscious mind—and in some cases, your conscious mind.

If you somehow hack your subconscious mind and fill it with belief and information, changing the explanations and interpretations of your experiences in a way that is actually beneficial to you, that will drive you toward your actual goal. You begin to love the process, not just the result.

How Auto-Suggestions Work

In simple terms, traditional auto-suggestion involves first taking any positive sentence that reflects the change you want in yourself, and then you keep repeating those words and sentences to yourself again and again. After a certain time, you start to notice that change in yourself, as described in the sentences you’ve been telling yourself.

Let’s take an example: You have found that whenever you make a mistake, you begin to hurt yourself. In pressurized moments, if you realize you have made a mistake, instead of accepting it and fixing it, you begin to hurt yourself by saying negative words to yourself like, “You are a duffer, always a loser.” This inner negative talk destroys your happiness, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Instead of solving the problem, it makes the problem worse.

So, you decide you want to rewire your brain—to create a mind that understands that negative talk is not useful. You need to accept what has already been done. Now, all you need to do is keep moving.

You have to set a sentence that reflects what you want your mind to believe. Maybe it is:
“I am human. It’s okay if I made a mistake. I won’t let that mistake damage me further. I’ll learn from it and use the lesson in the days ahead. Thus, I will turn my mistakes into good opportunities.”
(You can choose your own.)

Now, you have to repeat this message to yourself again and again—especially at night before sleep. Say it out loud. Even better results will come if you repeat it after waking up too. Keep telling this message to yourself. Give it a long span of time. You will see that when you are in a pressurized moment, you are no longer beating yourself up for your mistakes as you planned to rewire your brain.

The example message above may not relate to you. You have to find a message that does. Then implant that in your subconscious mind. Bring change to yourself—one step at a time.

Important Note

One thing we should keep in mind: To enter your subconscious mind through auto-suggestions, you have to pass through your conscious mind first. It means if you don’t believe or understand it consciously, you cannot implant the message into your subconscious mind.

Belief and understanding are the key, and auto-suggestion is the process. Sometimes you may feel it is not working, but in reality may be it is working you just not realizing the progress. You just need to focus on the process and timing. Keep repeating the process and wait for a long time with patience and belief.

When to Practice Auto-Suggestions

Auto-suggestions work best before and after sleep, and also in a deep meditative state. These are the times when the conscious mind is quiet and the subconscious is more receptive.

Examples of Auto-Suggestions

Some example auto-suggestion messages are:

  • Dear Me, I love myself. I won’t let myself get hurt because of my fault or someone else’s fault.
  • I want or I will have X amount of money by the date of Y in a legal and legitimate way. In return, I will do Z every day.
  • Comparison to others is not possible as I don’t know their conditions. So, I will never compare myself to others. I will only compare myself to my previous version to get better every day.
  • I know EGO is the enemy. I will never allow myself to boost my EGO.
  • Yes, I am having an unavoidable challenge. I am happy and relaxed to face it. I will extract the best from it.
  • Almost everything is recoverable. Let everything go with the flow. I will rebuild everything again.
  • The anxiety I am feeling is because of evolution. We, mankind, no longer live in the jungle, and this is no longer related to reality. I will not act out of this anxiety.
  • Anger can never bring any solution, so whenever I feel anger, I will take a deep breath, neutralize my anger, and act out of my intelligence, not out of my wrong emotional pain.
  • I know fear is the projection of the future on the basis of past memory. Neither the projection of fear nor the memory is true. So, I’ll live fearlessly.

In a similar way, there are so many you can create or you can choose from the above—whatever best suits you. But the best one will be when you create your own by discovering yourself. The best time for auto-suggestion is in a meditative and sleepy state. It works best when you clearly understand and realize what you want to implant into your mind.

Final Thoughts

Auto-suggestions work. They are not magic—but they are powerful. They reshape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—from the inside out.

Be mindful of what you feed your mind. Choose your changes wisely. With consistency, belief, and clarity, you can sharpen your greatest tool—your thinking mind.
