Mind Intake: Gardening Your Mind

🌱 Your Mind Is a Garden

If you think of your mind as a garden, a very fertile land lies in your mind. Thoughts are the seeds. Like a garden in reality, thoughts you sow in your mind are by your will, and sometimes a lot of unwanted seeds have been planted by society and surroundings. You keep watering your garden. Along with desired thoughts, those unwanted seeds also grow. So, in these cases, we choose what plants we want to grow and what we don’t. And then we take care of our desired plants and weed out undesired plants. But unlike a physical garden, removing unwanted thoughts from the mind is not so easy.

🌿 Why Weeding Thoughts Is So Difficult

As long as a thought stays in your mind, it grows like a tree — becoming harder to remove over time. The more attention and energy you give a thought, the stronger it becomes.

On the other hand, when you nurture a positive, desired thought — when you “water” it consistently — it also grows into something beautiful: offering you emotional “fruits and flowers.”

🧠 Feeding the Mind: The Path to the Life You Want

So, feeding our mind the right thoughts leads us to the life we desire. We already know how to observe our mind and thoughts and how to recognize the right thoughts. And we also know how these thoughts are coming to us. So, identifying those sources and taking actions is the key. Taking action doesn’t mean you eliminate the sources. Rather, you can manage them better. In fact, eliminating them is not possible. Pushing thoughts also doesn’t work, and pulling thoughts also doesn’t work.

🔄 How Beliefs Are Formed (An Example)

We take an example of a thought, say it’s about your belief about yourself. The thought is “You are a very talented person; you can do whatever you want to do.” This thought appears in your mind. You found this thought from an incident where you were saved or achieved something by the intelligence of your thinking mind. Then you started to believe this. But after some time, another incident happens — you get caught because you made a mistake — you started to believe that you are a loser. Every time an incident happens, the concept of yourself in your mind becomes complex.  And the dominating belief is going from the surface to behind your conscious mind. You are losing awareness of the belief about yourself little by little. Unconsciously feeding your mind again and again that you are a loser. That belief goes so deep you don’t even realize if it is true or not. People surrounding you also fuel your idea about yourself. They judge you; you unconsciously surrender to their opinion, you seek their validation. You forget the truth. No one knows you better than you.

⚖️ Which Thought Wins? It’s Up to You

We have taken two opposite thoughts or beliefs. Which one will dominate you depends on you and your activities — to which thoughts you are feeding. The thought you will be feeding, that will grow. If it is positive, then your life will be prosperous, peaceful. And if it is negative thoughts you are feeding, then your life will be negative. It will be better to say choosing the right kind of thoughts instead of negative or positive.

Just for better understanding repeating the above paragraph in a structured way is given below:

We’ve explored two opposite thoughts. Which one becomes dominant depends entirely on you — and what you feed.

The thought you nourish will grow.

  • If it’s positive, your life becomes peaceful and prosperous.

  • If it’s negative, it leads to a troubled and limiting reality.

So rather than thinking in terms of “positive vs. negative,” it’s better to ask:
Are you choosing the kind of thoughts you want?

🍽️ What Does Feeding a Thought Mean?

Feeding thoughts can happen both from internal and external incidents. When you realize or accept a thought as true, that instantly changes everything. These acceptances and realizations may or may not come from your surrounding people’s opinion. Maybe they have talked a lot, but you picked and accepted what supports your thoughts.

You have watched a movie or read a book that influenced you a lot. You took only the portion of that movie that supports your thoughts. You fed your thoughts, and your thoughts are getting stronger, forming  a deep belief. You keep feeding the same thought, and it becomes more stronger — turning into a concrete belief.

🔁 Recycling Painful Thoughts

You had to suffer a lot, and the cause of your suffering in those moments is still making you annoyed, though those moments may have gone long ago.

Maybe in reality nothing happens, but you become a victim of your thoughts — because of no reason, you choose the wrong thoughts.

☁️ The Sky Behind the Clouds

Thoughts flow through our mind like clouds in the sky — sometimes dark, sometimes white. Behind the clouds, the sky remains as it is. That sky is our real self. We have the power to choose thoughts or let them flow.

You can choose your thoughts — or simply let them flow by.

🌾 Planting & Watering Thoughts Intentionally

We choose a thought, plant it in our fertile land-like mind, keep watering it — it grows. When we take the source frequently and in our mind choose to accept it, those thoughts get fed and grow rapidly. On the other hand, if we limit the sources and in our mind choose to discard them, those thoughts lose strength and eventually get wiped out.

👁️ How Thoughts Enter: The Power of the Senses

The mind takes information through our senses: our eyes and vision, our ears and listening, our nose and smell, our skin and touches. Among all of these, vision is the most powerful. What we see impacts us the most. Thus, what we are seeing and what we are listening to will come out in our mind as thoughts. And we, based on desire, fear, or understanding, choose and accept the thoughts. Ultimately what you watch and hear becomes part of your thoughts — and eventually shapes your life.

📥 Mind Intake → Thought Output

We cannot choose thoughts that do not appear in our mind deliberately. So, what we give as intake to our mind is what we get as outtake. Most of our mind intake sources are movies, social media, newspapers, books, billboards, music and ads, conversations with and comments from friends, family, and other people around us.

Information in the form of pictures and sounds is all over us. And The mind is constantly absorbing all of the information — especially in the form of pictures and sounds.

🌐 You Can’t Change Everything — But You Can Choose

It’s true we cannot change our environment, but we can limit and carefully choose the people with whom we are interacting  and the content you are consuming. Then the possibility of feeding our mind the way we want will be more.

🌺 Back to Gardening: Let Desired Thoughts Grow

Again, back to the analogy of gardening our mind — the more we take actions toward mind intake sources, the more our desired thoughts will get nourished and watered. They will give birth to desired trees. The more they get nourished, the stronger they will grow. They will give you fruits and flowers. And undesired thoughts will get demolished due to lack of proper nourishment and watering.

🪞 Your Actions Reflect Your Thoughts

“Our actions are nothing but the reflections of our thoughts.”

Feed your mind wisely, and you will act wisely.
Plant the right thoughts, and you will grow the life you truly want.
